OptiCron / OptipHol / KALM

Spray tank additives designed to optimise the efficiency and efficacy of foliar fertilisers and trace elements

Spray Tank Additives Designed to Optimise Efficiency and Efficacy of Foliar Fertilisers and Trace Elements

OptiCron, OptipHol and KALM are a range of spray tank additives, specifically formulated to be used with foliar fertiliser and trace element applications.

OptiCron

COMPOSITION
OptiCron contains 70% of its Nitrogen in slow release (polymethylene Urea) form, which is, in appearance, a slightly oily, resinous liquid, with some remarkable properties.

MODE OF ACTION
Firstly, being resinous it does not dry to leave a crusty deposit of crystals like most other foliar Nitrogen sources (e.g. Urea). OptiCron leaves a very thin, moist film of waxy molecules which stick to the leaf for several days (often weeks) after application. This allows both fast release and slow release Nitrogen components to stay in contact with the leaf cuticle, and move across it very efficiently. In fact, most of the Nitrogen in OptiCron is absorbed by the leaf within 24 hours. In contrast, conventional sources of foliar Nitrogen (e.g. Urea) dry on the leaf within hours of application, and are then subject to removal by physical factors (e.g. wind and rain), and also by “volatilisation”, an enzyme process that breaks down Urea into Carbon Dioxide and Ammonia gas.

Secondly, being a long chain organic molecule rather than an inorganic mineral salt, polymethylene Urea is readily absorbed by cell membranes in the leaf cuticle and from there internally within the leaf tissue itself.

OptipHol

USES:
For the modification of the pH of the spray tank water, which can optimise the rate of dissolution of trace elements and prolong the time of absorption on the leaf surface.

COMPOSITION
An aqueous solution of proprionic and citric acids, with biodegradable surfactants.

PROBLEMS CONTROLLED
In some areas the pH of water used for spraying can be as high as 8.5. When the pH of spray tank water is above 6.5, some trace elements, such as manganese, are subject to alkaline hydrolysis (the conversion of the trace element salts to the insoluble hydroxide form). This can occur in the spray tank or on the leaf surface. OptipHol acidifies the spray tank water, reducing the pH and eliminating unwanted hydrolysis.

KALM

USES:
For the dispersion and elimination of foaming in spray tanks.

COMPOSITION
An aqueous concentrate containing activated siloxame polymers.

PROBLEMS CONTROLLED:
Strong agitation and circulation of spray tank solutions can lead to unwanted excessive foaming. KALM disperses the foam and prevents it from re-occurring.

METHOD OF USE:
Remove the protective cap, direct the jet over the surface of the spray tank solution and squeeze the bottle. Continue until the foam subsides.

PACK SIZE: 1 litre.
